WATCH: Colorado Man Saves His Dog From 2 Swift Bobcats

Don’t blink, or you might miss it!

A man in Monument, Colorado, had a close call with two feline predators last week, and it was all caught on tape. The home security camera in his backyard captures the moment when two bobcats attempt to attack his dog. They burst out of the brush towards the dog at lightning speed, but the man is able to chase them off. Talk about being quick on your feet!

Take a look at the video, courtesy of CBS Denver:

As you can see, these kinds of attacks can happen in the blink of an eye—so make sure you’re taking precautions to protect your pets from wild animals. One of the most important things you can do is keep your dog on a leash.

Bobcats aren’t the only wild animals you should look out for, either. Even in residential and urban areas of the state, there are all kinds of wildlife that you may encounter. Colorado Parks and Wildlife advises people to be cautious and to leave wild animals alone.

“Wildlife should not be harassed, captured, domesticated or—in most cases—fed. Intentional or inadvertent feeding is the major cause of most wildlife problems. It is illegal in Colorado to feed deer, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, pronghorn, and elk,” according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

If you live near wooded areas like the man in this video, you shouldn’t leave your pet alone outside. Clearly, things could’ve been different if he hadn’t been there to step in. Props to this dog dad for protecting his pup!
