Senator Proposes Free Streaming to Curb COVID-19 Spread
As medical experts warn of a potential spike in COVID-19 cases due to travel during the holiday season, Senator Angus King, an Independent from Maine is proposing an idea to help curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
On Monday, Senator King addressed a letter to the heads of Netflix, Amazon, Disney, Apple and WarnerMedia asking them to “temporarily remove any cost considerations” for current non-subscribers as a way to encourage people to stay home during the holidays.
King stated that streaming platforms are in a “unique position to help families cope with the effects of this health emergency on typical holiday traditions” and argued that stopping the pandemic’s spread requires a “whole of society effort.”
