Naomi Ackie is set to play the role of Whitney Houston in Sony upcoming musical biopic “I Wanna Dance With Somebody.”
Ackie, a British actress, is best known for her role in “Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.”
She has also won a BAFTA for her role in Netflix’s “The End of the F***ing World.”
The movie will be directed by Stella Meghie and was written by Anthony McCarten.
“I Wanna Dance With Somebody” is set for release on Thanksgiving 2022 and will look back on the life and music of Whitney Houston. Houston’s estate is backing the film.
