Judge To Rule On Whether George Floyd Trial Will Be Broadcast
A judge will determine whether the upcoming trial of three former Minneapolis police officers charged in the death of George Floyd will be broadcast.
A hearing was held on Thursday, with attorneys for two of the defendants asking to ban cameras from the courtroom. The judge intends to review the arguments an make a decision at a later date. Three officers - Thomas Lane, J. Alexander Kueng, and Tou Thao, will be tried together on charges of aiding and abetting second-degree murder and manslaughter. Their trial is scheduled to get underway in March. Earlier this year, fellow officer Derek Chauvin was sentenced to 22 1/2 years for murder.
Should cameras be allowed in the courtroom? Did you watch any of the Chauvin trial livestream?
