Janet Jackson Honored at #BeBold Dinner During Essencefest

Janet Jackson’s performance last week was Essence’s highest-grossing night ever. Jackson’s friends and peers celebrated her at the #BeBold Dinner in New Orleans. The “Be Bold” Series honors Women of Color who have pioneered and led the culture boldly. It is sponsored by Coca-Cola and powered by AT&T. Reverend Al Sharpton, MC Lyte, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Yvette Nicole Brown honored Janet’s 50-year career and legacy as a global icon and living legend. Even Bern Nadette Stanis, who played Thelma in “Good Times,” attended, creating a reunion that evening. Sponsors donated $100,000 to Janet’s Rhythm Nation Scholarship Fund, which partners with the United Negro College Fund.
