And Denver has some fun events lined up for the weekend, from bourbon festivals to celebrations for Chinese New Year. Events in Denver on Friday, January 24

2020 X Games

When: January 23–26
Where: Buttermilk in Aspen
Price: Free Admission

(We know this is in Aspen, but it’s too big of an event to miss!) Whether you’re into skiing, snowboarding, music, or a combination of them all, the 2020 X Games have something just for you! Learn more here.

Black Sheep Party

When: January 24, 6–8 p.m. 
Where: Museum of Contemporary Art Denver
Price: $5

The event will take over the MCA on Friday, where you can enjoy music from the Colorado Youth Mariachi Program and grilled appetizers from the hibachi grill through the night.

Hogshead Days 2020

When: January 24–25
Where: Hogshead Brewery
Price: Free

The two-day event celebrates dark and roasted beers. You can sip on samples of the latest beer releases, including porters, browns, and stouts from other breweries like Wit’s End, Strang Craft, and Westbound and Down.

RiNo Drafts and Laughs

When: January 24, 7:30–9:30 p.m. 
Where: Odell Brewing RiNo Brewhouse
Price: Free

The event features sets from comedians Ben Bryant. Brandt Tobler and others, including live music from Acuna Black and Selecta. Enjoy chilled local brews combined with a night of comedy.

Bourbon and Bacon Fest

Bourbon & Bacon Fest

When: January 25, 2–5 p.m.
Where: McNichols Civic Center Building
Price: $85

Sip on samples of specialty bourbons, decadent whiskeys, and food bites, the star of which is the bacon. VIP tickets called 1st Taste Tickets are available, but are limited, so grab your passes as quickly as possible.

Chinese New Year 2020

When: January 25–26
Where: Ace Eat Serve
Price: Free

Celebrate the Year of the Rat with delicacies such as hand-crafted dim sum bites and other savory snacks from Chef Thach Tran. Other dish specialties are the Brown Butter Lobster Sui Mai and Stir Fry Phat Belly Noodles.

Queso Competition

When: January 25, 1–3 p.m.
Where: River North Brewery – Blake Street Taproom
Price: Free

If your life motto is “queso is life”, then you have to head over to the River North Brewery for the Queso Competition. The contest judges queso dips and decides which one is the winner. If you have a killer queso dip recipe, enter your drip into the competition and buy a cold beer to get a voting ticket.

Where: Mirus Gallery Denver

Enjoy eclectic art pieces and live music from artists like Mental 69, Mike McCray, and T-Rave.

Viewhouse Ballpark

Boutique Warehouse Sale

When: January 26, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: ViewHouse Ballpark
Price: $12–$25

The event will have clothing from boutiques like Melrose and Madison, Lady Jones Denver, and others at a huge discount of 50 to 75 percent off. General admissions tickets include a drink and VIP tickets for $25 allow an early entrance to get first dibs on sale times.

Ski Wax and Pole Building Party

When: January 26, 12–7 p.m.  
Where: Station 26 Brewing Co.
Price: $20

If winter sports are your thing, bring your skis and snowboards for a wax while you sip on a brew. You can also participate in a workshop by Grass Sticks and learn how to create ski poles from bamboo.
